About Solar Thermal

How does the technology work?

Light landing on the solar thermal panels heat liquid held in coils of copper pipe inside. When the liquid is hot enough, it flows down to heat the water for the house through a heat exchanger.

The fluid is then circulated back up to the collectors to heat up again; it never comes in contact with the hot water for the home. The more panels connected together the more heat that can be generated.

Uses of a solar thermal system

Solar thermal can be used for a variety of water heating applications from a small single hot water cylinder, to community hot water, under floor heating, heated swimming pools, even refrigeration and cooling applications.

Where can solar thermal panels be installed?

Solar thermal systems are usually installed on a roof with minimal shading and south facing alternatively on a ground mount system close to the building.
